My name is Patrick Xhanti. I am currently doing a bachelor of arts in corporate communications at Varsity College, Cape Town. Coming from a harsh and heavily disadvantaged background I was moved to the Methodist Church belonging Marsh Memorial Homes, Rondebosch at the age of 15 and I completed my high school at Rhodes high while living at Marsh. A year ago I turned 18 and I had finished the High School and because of my age by the rules, I had to leave Marsh Memorial Homes. I had no idea what I was going to do and where I was going to stay, but all I had was a dream, and that dream was to study and get a degree to so that I could build a better future for my family and me. With the support of Marsh memorial Homes, Steven Moolman, I could participate on a stipend program at the University - Varsity College, Cape Town, but the stipendium was limited at a maximum of 73% of the College- and living costs, so that for the difference of 23% I had to find a donator.

I prayed to God and God heard my prayers. At the end of last year (Nov. 2012) I met Dieter and Bettina a lovely German couple who were in South Africa to get married. They visited the Marsh Memorial Homes and where introduced about my financial situation by Mr. Moolman. The Wulkow’s had offered to pay the difference for my education, I cannot even begin to describe how amaze and grateful I was. During the registration process at varsity college I announced to the vice principle that I could start my study and that I will be donated in full of scholarship, as now Dieter and Bettina are donating the 27% of my fees.

At the University it is well known, that my study will be donated by donators from Germany. Germany on our College and also by many South Africans has a very high reputation.  Many of our graduates after finishing their study start their work at German Companies. All significant Companies like SIEMENS, DAIMLER BENZ, BMW, VOLKSWAGEN, CONVERTEAM (AEG) a.s.o. for decades are operating here in South Africa and in their factories and offices more and more they employ well trained Africans.  With it lives and works many Germany, from them we have learned even a lot. For our Country a good education and High School degrees are of great importance. Sadly that at present not so much Blacks cannot afford this and they hope to get a scholarship or a donation, like I could get by you, dear Dieter and Bettina.

As more Africans will be well educated here, as more of them can take part on the working life. This opportunity will bring long term stability to our Country and thus more safety for the here domiciled domestic and foreign Companies. This definitely would also be in the interests of the Germans who lives and works here in South Africa.

In a study I have read recently was noted, that a well-educated African stimulates five others for an education. Therefore this has a huge effect. We are on a right way.  Perhaps you can appeal more organizations and people in your Country and make sure, that more young Blacks can get a stipend or a donation, similar I get from you.

At times we wonder if there is still any good in the world, now I know there is a lot of goodness in the world and you have showed that to me. I pray that God gives me a heart as good as yours. I know you could have chosen anyone in the world to give your support to but it brings me so much joy to know that I was that lucky person. I would also like to take this opportunity to promise you that your support will not go to waste, I promise to always do my best and I also promise you that I will finish this degree and make you proud. I pray that God blesses the two of you and that he gives you strength and happiness for the rest of your lives.

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR LOVE AND SUPPRORT DIETER AND BETTINA
