Project 03/2022 Promotion of education and elucidation (FGM) on Kenyan Hedge-Schools – We support the project of pre-treatment consultation of the woman writer Ntailan Lolkoki

Ntailan Lolkoki is a Kenyan book writer specialized on FGM for young girls in Kenia.
Natailan has grown up as girl of the Maasai tribe in a small village Barsaloi in the Maralal region in Northern Kenya. When she was 12 years old she suffered tremendous harm from female genital mutilation. After many years of physical trauma she had been taught of medical treatment options in Berlin/Germany. There she had been operated successfully and she is now trying to help young girls and women to inform and educate them on FGM.

Since several years Natailan does live in Berlin. She has written some education books about FGM such as  „The Kingdom of Watetu and Songaland" which on the occasion of her trips to rural areas of Kenya,  she does distribute her books in local schools, giving educational lessons in girl classes on FGM reading her own story and helping to make understand how to deal with FGM questions.

Mid of June 2022, Ntailan has scheduled her next trip to Kenya and to visit local schools in her homeland region of Maralal and Samburo to give educational lessons on FGM for young girls and will distribute her book “The Kingdom of Watetu and Songaland". The trip and school visits is being organized by sisters living in Kenya as well as Josephine Kuela, who built up a „Rescue Center“ for  girls Maralal.

We, the Dieter & Bettina Wulkow Foundation have been in touch with Ntailan Lolkoki whom introduced to us in detail about her educational aid project and her scheduled trip to Kenya.
We sponsor her aid project and educational work on FGM with a contribution of 100 education books in a value of 800.-€.

Ntailan will keep us posted of her trip and her work in Kenya reporting us with photo documentation. We wish Ntailan good luck for her trip and a lot of success in her educational work on FGM that may help and give girls and young women new options for personal welfare.
